This isn't a review of their wines to be honest, but we tried to walk up for a walk-in tasting on a weekday in early January and were met by quite a passive-aggressive lady who made us feel like we were a burden. She immediately asked us "do you have a booking", and after I replied that we didn't, she half murmured to herself whilst rolling her eyes that this was the busiest time of the year. Message to the staff: it's not really up to your customers to know the ins and outs of your business, and even if you can't accommodate us, there are more polite ways to say this. The lady said she could "squeeze us in" if we wanted, but it was an easy decision for us - we left, and she seemed quite happy to let us go. We took our business to Iron Gate who happily accommodated us, and from whom we bought 3 bottles.

We have just had one of our best wine tasting experiences in the Hunter Valley. We were extremely well looked after and the wines (both red and white) were excellent and good value. Our host was very knowledgeable and enhanced the wine tasting. We were also greeted by four legged friends, Muscat, Kahlua and Sambucca which made the experience even friendlier. First time visitors and we will definitely be back. Looking at booking the on site accommodation 😄

This place is what I want out of a cellar door experience. The location was just lovely. The wine, honesty I loved 7/8 I had. Very good wine. We ended up in the yard having wine and & a tasty cheese platter perfect for 2. Mark was fantastic, friendly & chatty. We will be back, Thankyou so much for a fantastic afternoon!

Great tasting wine. Great customer service Great location. Ability to alter your tasting experience to your wine preferences i.e. white wine only or visa versa. Information on each wine tried and what kind of dish they would be best paired with. Added benefit being that there are some cute dogs residing at the winery ready for a pat. Would definitely recommend a visit and I will definitely be back.

We had great time at Hunter Valley. However, Hanging Tree Wines was a let down. As soon as we arrived, we were told that the winery was fully booked out. We asked that the whole restaurant was pretty empty, then we were asked to sit outside. It was weird to ask your guest to sit out when whole restaurant inside was empty. We were advised the wine tasting was not possible and cheese platter would take ages as they don't have enough staff. Clearly, it wasn't the case. While sitting outside, our kids were constantly sniffed by 4 dogs. It was such a mood spooler that we didn't finish our drinks. I don't recommend this place at all. Look around as they are plenty of other options.

Mike you total legend! Had a beautiful wine tasting session with a group of friends, he was warm, knowledgeable and passionate about the subject, (not to mention how delicious the wines were) would absolutely recommend! The dogs are also very cute and well behaved :)

We had a lovely experience at Hanging Tree Wines. For a minimal price, we could taste so many different wines from their collection and decide which ones we wanted to take back home. Id highly recommend visiting here if you are visiting hunter valley :)

We had a lovely afternoon tasting really amazing red, white and sparkling wines. Uncle Sam was very friendly, made us feel very welcomed! And the dogs were so cute .. what a beautiful place. We had such a wonderful time here and of course, came away with a good few bottles of wine 🤩 10/10 recommend!
